Notary Services

The City of Stanley notary services are generally available on Tuesdays. Please contact us to schedule an appointment at least one week prior to requested appointment.

Notary services can also be requested from the the Stanley Community Library (208-774-2470) or Mountain Village Resort (208-774-4688).

Police Department

In an emergency, please call 911.

The City of Stanley does not have a police department. Police coverage for the city is provided through an agreement with the Custer County Sheriff's Office.
Custer County non-emergency dispatch number: (208) 879-2232.

Garbage Dumpster

Trash Disposal

The City of Stanley does not provide a trash disposal service for the residents of Stanley. As of June 2025 the Custer County Transfer Station west of town on Hwy 21 is open Fridays from 10-2 pm. Cash or check for household waste and slash.

The other transfer stations are located at Smiley Creek and East Fork.

Emergency Services

In an emergency call 911. For search and rescue contact Custer County Sheriff's office. An emergency mass notification system (CodeRED) is manged by Custer County. Custer County and Stanley also use the Ready, Set, Go! program. To learn more visit the Custer County Emergency Services site.

Grooming

The City of Stanley manages the grooming of over 70 miles of winter motorized multi-use trails on the surrounding National Forest Lands. Grooming is funded by Idaho Parks and Recreation, the City of Stanley, grants, and donations.

Fire Department

The City of Stanley does not have its own fire department. The Sawtooth Valley Rural Fire Department provides fire protection in the Stanley area. It is a volunteer fire department.

Stanley Cemetery

The City of Stanley manages a small cemetery. For more information about the cemetery please contact the City Clerk.

Ice Rink

The City of Stanley manages the public Ice Rink located in Pioneer Park.

The ice rink will be closed to public skating from Thurs, Jan 15 to Sun, Jan 18th at 3 pm for ​the Bonspiel Event.

The rink will be closed to public skating Thurs Jan 29 - Sun Feb 1 for the Hockey Tournament.

Pioneer Park

Pioneer park has open fields, a baseball diamond, playground, walking paths, picnic tables, and restrooms. The Picnic Pavilion offers a small covered picnic area. It is open to the public and may also be reserved for large group events.

If you would like to use an area of the park but the irrigation/sprinklers may be running, contact the city and we will do our best to accommodate. The irrigation system is turned off for all booked events.

Community Building

The Stanley Community Building is located right next to the City Office. City council meetings are held there as well as other community events.

If you would like to use the building for a community or personal event you will need to complete the rental form.
