If I want to donate funds to a city event or improvement project, will my contribution be tax deductible?
You should always consult with your own tax advisor regarding your particular circumstances, but generally, charitable contributions to the City are tax deductible under IRS Code Section 170(c)(1) which is also known as U.S.C Title 26, Section 170(c)(1). The charitable contributions can be specified for improvements for the city park, support for a city sponsored event, or other exclusively public purposes.

Can I plant a tree or donate a memorial bench in memory of someone?
The City may be able to help facilitate a planting or bench memorial within Pioneer Park. If you have a specific request please contact our operations manager at operations@cityofstanleyid.gov. Monuments, scattering ashes, or burials are not allowed in the City Park. The City of Stanley has a small cemetery where plots may be purchased.

Does the City have a Police Department?
No, the City of Stanley does not have its own police department. The City contracts with Custer County Sheriff to provide law enforcement services within the City of Stanley. If you have a law enforcement need please contact Custer County Sheriff at 911 for emergencies or 208-879-2232.
